Fall 2010 Field Study Journal Entries
March 1st
-Began the field study today with having students fill out a survey regarding their opinion on peer editing
-Seemed to go well, some students didn’t really understand the process of peer editing to the degree that I’d hoped they would

March 8th
-Created individual pages on my wikipage today and set up a page outlining instructions for students detailing how to use the wiki for peer editing purposes
-Took students to the computer lab and showed them a demo on how to the peer editing process will work
-Several students appear to be having difficulty with how to navigate around the wiki

March 9th
-Field study is not off to a slow start
-Students are not going to the wiki from home to conduct their peer editing
-I think I’ll have to book more computer time in the lab to get them started

March 10th
-Have booked three lab sessions so the students can begin their chapter summaries and peer editing
-Several students were not able to grasp the concept of how to edit on the wiki
-I had to go over the steps again

March 11th
-Most students have go the hang of how to edit now, but some of the academically lower students are struggling
-Some students have completed their chapter summaries but are waiting for peers to edit their work
-Frustrating!!

March 12th
-Last day in the lab today
-Most students have still not fully completed their chapter summaries several students have done little…don’t know what the problem is…actually I do know- lack of interest of laziness!!

April 6th
-First day back for the break. Checked to see if any students had visited wiki to complete their chapter summary editing…no such luck

April 21st
-Students took second survey about technology in computer lab today. Some more than others took the survey seriously
-I was surprised to see how many students rated themselves as average to above average in technological proficiency
